Gate Opener Repair

Gate Opener Repair

From a clicking-but-not-moving sliding operator to a swing arm that reverses halfway, we diagnose and repair every common gate opener fault — failed capacitors, burnt control boards, blown fuses, dead transformers, water-damaged receivers and worn gear motors. Our trucks carry the boards, capacitors, photo eyes and remotes for LiftMaster, DEA, FAAC, CAME and Nice, so most repairs finish on the first visit.

We start with a real diagnostic, give a firm quote before any work begins, and re-test the full open-close cycle from every remote, keypad and intercom on file before we leave.

Automation & Installations

Gate Automation & Opener Installation

Have an existing manual gate you would like to automate, or an old operator that has finally given up? POCO supplies and installs new gate openers from LiftMaster, DEA, FAAC, CAME and Nice on swing and sliding gates across the Tri-Cities. We size the operator to the gate weight and length, run the low-voltage wiring, mount safety photo eyes, install the receiver, program your remotes and keypad, and walk you through every safety feature before we leave.

Note: we focus on gate opener and automation work — we service the gate itself but we do not fabricate or install new gates. If your gate panel needs welding or replacement we will refer you to a trusted local fabricator.

Gate Maintenance Programs

Automated gates work harder than almost any other piece of equipment on a residential property — many open and close 6–20 times a day, in all weather. A 30-minute preventive maintenance visit twice a year prevents almost every emergency call we get.

  • Lubricate hinges, rack-and-pinion, chain and articulated arms
  • Tighten brackets, mounting bolts and post hardware
  • Test and recalibrate force, sensitivity and travel limits
  • Inspect photo eyes, safety edges and safety loops
  • Test backup batteries and replace if weak
  • Clean control board, terminals and receiver enclosure
  • Re-test every remote, keypad and intercom on file
  • Provide a written condition report after every visit

Twice-a-year residential plans start from $149 per visit. Strata and multi-tenant maintenance contracts are quoted by gate count and traffic volume — ask us for a custom plan.

Common Gate Opener Problems We Fix

Gate Won't Open

Usually a dead capacitor, a tripped photo eye, a damaged control board or a power supply fault — all repairable, often same-day.

Gate Reverses Mid-Travel

An out-of-adjustment force or sensitivity setting, a dirty rack, or a misaligned safety edge. We re-tune and re-test.

Slow Or Noisy Operator

Worn rollers, dry hinges, a failing motor or low-voltage power problems. We diagnose the root cause — not just lube and leave.

Remote Or Keypad Not Working

See our gate remote programming page — we add, replace and program remotes and keypads on every brand.

Stuck After Power Outage

The board may have lost its travel limits or remote memory. We restore travel limits and re-pair every remote on file.

Gate Humming, Not Moving

Almost always a failed start capacitor on the gate motor. A 20-minute fix — we carry every common value in the truck.

Gate Service — Common Questions

Do you install new gates?

No. POCO Garage Doors focuses on gate opener and automation work — opener repair, opener replacement, automating existing manual gates, and preventive maintenance. If your gate panel itself needs welding or full replacement we will refer you to a trusted local fabricator.

Can you automate my existing manual gate?

Yes — this is one of our most common installs. We supply and install LiftMaster, DEA, FAAC, CAME and Nice gate operators sized to your gate's weight, length and traffic, including all safety photo eyes, the receiver and remote programming. Most residential gate automation jobs are completed in a single day.

How much does gate opener repair cost?

Gate opener repair starts from $149 including the trip charge and on-site diagnostic. Most common faults — capacitor, photo eye, limit switch or remote receiver — are resolved on the first visit. We always give a firm quote before starting any work.

How fast can you come out for a broken gate?

Same-day service is standard across the Tri-Cities. We typically arrive within 1–3 hours for emergency calls in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody, and we keep evening and Saturday slots open for strata and rental property emergencies.

Do you replace old gate operators or only repair them?

Both. We will quote a repair and a replacement side-by-side. If the operator is more than 12 years old, no longer supported by the manufacturer, or the repair cost is more than 60% of a new install, we usually recommend replacement — and the new operator typically comes with a 2–5 year warranty.

Can you service a gate POCO did not install?

Yes — about 80% of our gate calls are on systems installed by other companies. There is no premium for being a new customer, and we never void a manufacturer warranty during repair work.

Do you offer maintenance contracts for strata properties?

Yes. We run scheduled preventive maintenance contracts for strata and multi-tenant properties across the Tri-Cities, priced by gate count and daily traffic. Contracts include all routine service visits, priority emergency response and a written condition report after every visit.
